Liverpool's likely title parade plans and how fans will celebrate Prem crown (2025)

Liverpool are almost certain to win the Premier League title within the coming weeks, with supporters desperate to celebrate with the team having been stopped back in 2020

Liverpool fans are gearing up to celebrate their side's impending Premier League title win. The Reds have romped home in what is Arne Slot's first season as manager, with a current 13 point lead over closest challengers Arsenal.

Slot's side could even confirm their title win on Sunday with five games to spare - if Arsenal lose at Ipswich and they win at relegation-threatened Leicester. Even if the Gunners do beat the Tractor Boys and then Crystal Palace on Wednesday, Liverpool will be champions if they win against Tottenham next Sunday.

It will be the 20th time Liverpool have won the English top-flight, matching a record currently held by Manchester United. The last time the Reds finished top was back in 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

That meant they were unable to lift the trophy in front of their fans or even hold a trophy parade through the city. They will be able to do both this year though, with the Reds expected to lift the Premier League trophy following their final game of the season.

That comes against Crystal Palace at Anfield on May 25 and will be the first time supporters will have actually seen their side lift the top-flight title in person since May 1990. While the club are yet to confirm plans for a parade, a look at the past gives an insight into what could happen.

Three years ago, Liverpool held a trophy parade after winning the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup. The parade came the day after the Champions League final, which the Reds lost to Real Madrid in Paris.

At this point it is unknown whether the parade would be held on May 26, though it will almost certainly be held at some point that week. Back in 2022, the parade started at 4pm and followed a nine-mile route.

The three buses containing players and staff, as well as the trophies, drove past many of Liverpool's landmarks, with the parade finishing in the city centre. It was soundtracked by DJ and Liverpool fan Calvin Harris, who was on board the bus.

Harris currently has no commitments, though is in the process of announcing shows, so could well be available again. Smoke flares were released at the top the buildings down on Liverpool's waterfront as the parade ended its route, despite police requesting otherwise.

Fireworks also flashed off from the buildings that make up Liverpool's waterfront while confetti cannons turned the air red. There was a massive turnout, with people even standing on traffic lights to get a glimpse.

Given the title is much more significant, attendance could be even bigger this time around. Boss Slot is trying to keep his side focused on the task at hand, with the Dutchman taking one game at a time.

"My whole life I'm living in the moment, in the day, and I'm not looking backwards a lot and I'm not looking forwards a lot because it's the type of person that I am, that I am not constantly looking back at what I have achieved at former clubs," he said.

"That is also so difficult in football, people constantly tell you, 'Try to enjoy it, try to enjoy the whole journey', but the only thing you are thinking about as a manager is, 'Oh, at the weekend there is a game coming up as well and we need to win that and we need to win the next and we need to win the next'.

"So, maybe that’s one of the reasons: because I'm already so long in football that you get used to the fact of living day by day and trying to influence day by day."
